Urge Your MP to Attend the Debate on a UK-EU Customs Union
The UK’s current trading arrangements with Europe are hurting our economy. Independent research suggests the UK may now be 6–8% worse off, with the impact on GDP costing the Treasury up to £90 billion a year – around £250 million a day. This means higher costs, weaker public finances and fewer opportunities for people and businesses. Many firms, especially smaller ones, face extra costs, delays and new barriers when trading with Europe. A new, negotiated UK–EU customs arrangement would help reduce these burdens and create a more reliable system for exporters. That’s why we are urging MPs to support the Ten Minute Rule Bill on 9 December, which would begin negotiations on a new UK–EU Customs Union. With the economic pressure increasing, Parliament needs to act.
