NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS NOW EXPIRED
Due to the coronavirus we are asking everyone to check with the individual event organisers that the event you're wanting to attend is still going ahead.
Sunday the 9th of May is Europe Day. Members and Supporters of our branch are invited to a socially-distanced informal low-key BYO (bring your own) picnic in Farnham Park at 2pm. After the past year, it will be a chance for a bit of a distanced get-together.
You are invited to observe social distancing on the “Southern Slope” - the bank below “The Avenue” of trees in Farnham Park and looking down over Farnham, from 2pm onwards. The "Southern Slope" is marked on this map Farnham Park Map PDF.
You are encouraged to:
bring your own food and drink, - EU-themed is optional,
bring your umbrellas and wellingtons, or alternatively flip-flops and sun-cream, depending on how optimistic you feel about the weather this unpredictably cold spring,
bring your own mat or blanket, crockery and utensils, (and take them away afterwards),
wear a EU tee-shirt, beret, flag, if you wish,
take photos or short videos and share on social media,
use the appropriate hashtags #EuropeDayUK #Farnham @EPinUK @euromove @EM_SWSurrey
There is plenty of space on the Southern Slope – so we should be able to keep strictly socially distanced at all times, and yet still get to meet and chat (at a distance) with each other, after such a hard year of lockdowns, staying at home, and, for some, self-isolating. Please observe government and NHS guidelines at all times.
Register: I will ask those thinking of attending to share your mobile number with me in case of last minute (weather?) changes, or if you can’t find us. Please send your contact details to the usual email address [email protected] .
Parking: The main car park for the park is off Folly Hill (A 287), between Farnham and Upper Hale. Sat Nav: GU9 0AU.
Date: Sunday, 9th May
Time: 14.00 BST (duration dependent on the weather)
Venue: “Southern Slope”, Farnham Park, Farnham
