Welcome to the European Movement
What is the European Movement?
European Movement UK exists to promote closer ties between the UK and the rest of Europe.
We are focused on exposing and reducing the harm of Brexit, campaigning for practical steps to restore collaboration with Europe across different areas of British life, and, longer term, making the case for returning to full membership of the EU when the time is right.
The European Movement is a cross-party, single-issue organisation. We are powered by 26,000 members, over 250,000 campaign supporters, 100 local groups, and our strong networks in Westminster and the EU.
What does the European Movement stand for?
We believe that the UK shares deeply held values and a common history with our European neighbours. The EU and its member states are natural trading, security, diplomatic and cultural partners for the UK and, together, we can exercise powerful influence on the world stage.
Britain’s decision to leave the EU has not delivered benefits for our country. The UK’s economic and political interests, and the global pursuit of our shared values of peace, freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law are best achieved through the UK rebuilding closer ties with the European Union.
Who supports European Movement UK?
The European Movement is backed by high-profile pro-Europeans from across the political spectrum. Our Co-Presidents are Dominic Grieve and Caroline Lucas, and our Chair is Dr Mike Galsworthy, and Patrons include Michael Heseltine, Neil Kinnock and Gina Miller. You can see the full list of Vice-Presidents and Patrons here.
The organisation is primarily funded by more than 25,000 individual members, who are passionate about standing up for European values and a European future.
