Sir Nick Harvey becomes CEO of the European Movement

The European Movement UK is delighted to announce that Sir Nick Harvey will be starting as CEO in the coming weeks. 

Sir Nick was Liberal Democrat MP for Devon from 1992 to 2015, and Minister of State for the Armed Forces from 2010 to 2012. In 1992, Paddy Ashdown appointed him as spokesperson for transport, and trade and industry two years later. 

Sir Nick was Chief Exec of the Lib Dems he has been a member of both the home affairs select committee and the standards and privileges committee, before becoming Minister for the Armed Forces in the Liberal Democrat - Conservative coalition government. He was knighted in 2012.

Sir Nick Harvey, CEO, said:

The European Movement UK executive and staff team have worked wonders to get on the front foot again in recent years, with a rapidly growing membership and increasing strength in campaigning. With public opinion on the European issue shifting all the time, my aim is to take our message out to new places and people who may have been hard to reach previously, and restore our cultural, political and economic relationship with Europe.”
