SW Surrey is excited about the #MarchForRejoin

Published on September 04, 2022

We are getting very excited that the National Rejoin March (NRM) is fast approaching - Saturday 10th September. This will be a family-friendly event. Please come prepared with comfortable shoes, sunscreen, water, snacks, and your mobile phone for photos. Accessibility is being addressed too - see below.

It is being supported by European Movement UK, Grassroots for Europe, Stay European, and lots of other organisations. For more information on volunteering, the march route, etc., check out the official march website https://marchforrejoin.co.uk/ .

Please note that SW Surrey branch is NOT organising a bus or coach - suggested train times are below.

Please bring flags and banners. Of course the EU flag🇪🇺, the Union flag🇬🇧, the Ukraine flag🇺🇦, and flags of any EU nation can be flown, and we especially encourage you to make your own banners with your own slogans.

Brief Timetable

Marchers should collect at Park Lane from 12 midday. The march is expected to set off at 1pm. Those with Accessibility needs should collect at the Guards Crimean War Memorial on Waterloo Place (which is just off Pall Mall) between 1 and 2pm, and join the march for the last 0.7 miles (or a kilometer) down Whitehall.
The speeches will run from 3pm to 4:30pm (approx).

Accessibility

Those who cannot manage the full march, but can manage the walk down Whitehall (1 km or 0.7 miles), the arrangements are to meet at the Guards Crimean War Memorial / Florence Nightingale statue on Waterloo Place/Pall Mall at 14:00 and join the march when it passes along Pall Mall. If you choose this option, you should find your own way to the War Memorial, and join the march at any convenient point. If you want to meet up with SW Surrey friends, I suggest you look for the SW Surrey flag (below) when on Parliament Square.
