British businesses need a better deal with Europe

When the UK left the single market, businesses were affected by trade frictions, more red tape, they found it harder to buy from Europe and get skilled workers from Europe.

That's why we are documenting the voices of British small and medium-sized businesses. The voice of British business has been ignored for a decade. It is time that we get the government to listen.

To deliver the economic growth we need to fund our public services, we need a full reset of our economic relationship with Europe.

• The UK should seek to join the single market and customs union.
• Any negotiated arrangement must include freedom of movement.
• Small and medium-sized businesses must be included in future engagement with the European Union.

Together, we can address the root causes of trade friction, establish free trade in goods and services with our closest neighbours, which will make things cheaper.

We can give British people the freedom to live, work or retire in Europe.

We can make sure that the government takes the voice of British business seriously at the negotiation table.
