10,000s of EU and EEA citizens in the UK have not been able to apply for settled status. From 1st July, anyone has not applied may be unable to rent, to work, or even to access lifesaving NHS care because of the hostile environment immigration policy.
The Windrush scandal showed just how disastrous the hostile environment can be for people who are left behind. With millions of EU citizens at risk of being dragged into it, now is surely the time for real action to protect people’s rights.
