European Movement Macclesfield and East Cheshire join the Put It To The People March

On Saturday 23rd March the European Movement Macclesfield and East Cheshire descended on London to join more than a million others at the ‘Put It To The People March’ It was not quite a case of ‘Planes Trains and Automobiles’ but very nearly as we used all means possible to get to the capital (including, for the earliest risers, coaches with our colleagues from Staffs4EU and Manchester for Europe).

We met up at the Calvary Monument in Hyde Park. Our unfurled flags and raised up banners made a fine sight displaying a variety of messages including “Knutsford Loves EU”, and “All I Want For Christmas is EU”. Shortly after noon our tireless Chair, Chris Foster, led the team forward. Needless to say we soon dispersed among the multitude of people on Park Lane.  Whilst our progress was not always quick we had a fantastic and uplifting afternoon as we made our way through the central London. It was great to be with so many people supporting the People's Vote cause. Along the way we chatted with people from all over the country. Some of us made it to Parliament Square whilst the volume of marchers meant that others only arrived at Trafalgar Square after 4pm. It was a long day but well worth it and as we headed home some of us taking the train enjoyed a deserved drink at the Euston Tap !
The 23rd March was a truly inspiring day and this weekend the hard work continues as we are out campaigning in Macclesfield and Nantwich.
