This is Erasmus - European Movement steps up the campaign

We are stepping-up our campaign for the UK to join Erasmus+ because we firmly believe that 2025 can be the year the UK rejoins Erasmus+.

The EU are asking for the UK to loosen on a new youth mobility scheme, and we believe that the UK rejoining Erasmus+ is the answer.

This is why we are doubling our efforts to make rejoining Erasmus+ a reality. Together, our movement can add to the 50,000 people who already publicly support our campaign and ensure that our voices, and the voices of future generations, are heard by this government.

When the UK left the European Union, we left so much more than just the overarching union. Among those things was Erasmus+, an initiative funded by the EU with the aim of supporting education, training and development across all member states.

Most may know Erasmus+ for its work supporting exchange programmes, allowing students to study abroad as part of their university degree. But Erasmus offers so much more.

From running digital academies for adult learners to supporting women in the tech industry, Erasmus exists to further education across Europe for all, not just for university students.

In 2020, the last year in which the UK was part of the Erasmus scheme, over 200 million Euros of grants were given to over 1000 UK-based projects and almost 60,000 participants.

For 33 years, since joining the scheme in 1987, people for all walks of life and projects from across countless industries in the UK had benefited from Erasmus. Then, from 2021 onwards, nothing.

Erasmus+ provides people of all ages and from all backgrounds with experiences and skills that help then to grow and develop professionally, academically, and socially. Countless people in the UK have benefited from these opportunities in the past, and we believe that the learners and project leaders of today and tomorrow deserve those opportunities too.

This is why we launched This is Erasmus, a campaign calling for the UK to finally rejoin this vital initiative and allow Brits to access the same mobility and opportunities as our European neighbours once again.
