European Movement UK and Wales for Europe announce strategic partnership

Wales for Europe Chair Helen Wales and European Movement UK CEO Anna Bird announce an exciting new strategic partnership to bring the organisations together.

We need to fight and win in every nation, region, and local community in the UK. And that means making sure our campaigns are led by those who really know the communities they serve.

The European Movement UK already has 100+ local groups and branches across the UK, working hard to build the movement and expose this government’s disastrous hard Brexit in their communities.

But we know we can and must go further to ensure that our campaigns are in the hands of those who know their area best - especially in the devolved nations of the UK.

That is why we are delighted to announce the creation of a new strategic partnership between the European Movement UK and Wales for Europe, our sister organisation in Wales!

As part of this new partnership:

  • European Movement members in Wales will be offered membership of Wales for Europe as standard;
  • Wales for Europe will be represented with 6 seats on the European Movement UK’s new National Council;
  • We will soon hire a joint staff member dedicated to organising pro-European campaigns in Wales.

We would like to invite all supporters to celebrate this new partnership at our upcoming event on 2 November 2021 from 6pm, “Telling a new story about Europe: One message for all or one for each nation?", hosted in partnership with the European Movement in Scotland.
